Erik Van den Haute is of counsel and a member of Pestalozzi’s Financial Services group in Brussels.

Erik Van den Haute has specialized in banking- and financial law, as well as in company law. He has been dealing with complex litigation matters and been involved in the preparation, drafting and closing of numerous contracts. He has written numerous articles on topics ranging from European banking law to insolvency law and has written a PhD on European harmonization of mortgage backed loans from the perspective of comparative law, european law and private international law. He is professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles since 2005.

Erik Van den Haute has obtained a law degree at the Université Libre de Bruxelles and has been admitted to the Brussels Bar in 1995. He has presented his Phd on the topic of European harmonization of mortgage backed loans from the perspective of comparative law, European law and Private International Law at the Université Libre de Bruxelles where he teaches contract and comparative law. He is also member of the Groupe de Travail Contrats Internationaux (Revue du droit des affaires internationals) and the Association européenne de droit bancaire et financier - Belgium (AEDBF) and has worked as an expert in several law reform commissions.

Erik Van den Haute has a proficiency knowledge of French, English, German and Dutch.
